Day 10 of recovery

7/10/14

Day 10 of recovery

Today was a much, much better day!!  Alexa had a pretty good night since they switched her to the IV pain meds.  It’s amazing how much better it works when you actually get the medicine into your body rather than just running right thru you, haha!  They originally wanted to put her on the pain meds with a pump but I insisted that they do it scheduled with the nurse since I knew if it was a pump that Alexa wouldn’t sleep, she would stay up half the night worrying that she would wake up hurting if she didn’t stay awake to push the button.  I’m so glad they listened & let her have the nurses come in to give it to her every 2 hrs!!  Anyway, we were able to sleep pretty well thru the night finally!!  This morn she was actually able to get all of her patches, IVs & tubes all covered up & took a shower!!  The smell in the room was so much better & she even wore her retainer so she wasn’t toothless, haha!!  This morn all of the doctors came in & they talked about their plan.  They are so awesome!!  They know just what to do for different situations!!  All of the doctors & nurses are so awesome here!!  We have had this nurse named Fitaya who is Muslim every day this week & she is so sweet.  We have gotten to know her really well & she’s told us a lot about her family & her religion.  I will try to get a pic of her with Alexa tomorrow.  All of the other nurses are really great too.  I’m just really impressed with this hospital!!  If you were able to see the video I posted on YouTube you can see that Alexa is feeling much better.  Every single person who came in said how much better she looked!  Ty & I were able to go eat dinner at the RMH & while we were gone, guess who came to visit?  Kaia came again while I was gone!!  I’m so glad she texted me & waited for us to get back & we were able to visit with her.  She said that when she got here she met a girl with a chocolate lab who had just come down & she asked her if she went by Alexa’s room.  She said that maybe she was the girl who was sleeping & Kaia got her to go back up to visit with Alexa & as you can tell, it made her very happy.  I have never been there when the dogs have come, I’m so sad I always miss them!!  Well, as you can see, miracles are still happening & will continue to happen.  We have been so grateful today for a restful day with no throwing up & lots of healing going on!!  Finally I think we are past the worst part!!!  The only down part of this is that now that Ty doesn’t sit around worrying about Alexa nonstop, he is starting to get bored & antsy.  We have spoken to RMH about getting him something to do & hopefully they will & he won’t get too bored.  He had lots of computer work to do today but when that runs out, we will be in trouble!!

These are the turkeys that greet us all the time & hang around RMH
